Wind Wanderer is a 1982 built Robert Perry designed CT54 ketch. There is so much we could say about Wind Wanderer, but it would take a book. She has been our very comfortable and much loved home for the last 4 years, nearly 3 of which have been doing a circumnavigation. And yes, the world is round. When we bought her we were rookies. While I've messed around with boats most of my life, I had never done anything more than a bit of coastal sailing and Sandy had only daysailed a few times, never at sea. I found the first CT 54 we saw hugely intimidating. In fact while Sandy was getting all excited I was muttering "No way!" under my breath. I needn't have worried. These are St Bernards, not Pit Bulls. Bob Perry really did get the design right.
We spent 8 months converting her into a boat a couple could handle instead of always needing crew, as most bigger boats do.
Wind Wanderer is a frequently photographed head turner and her pirate ship lines capture the romance of sailing to distant places. But she has a lot more than looks. She has the strength of a battleship and has kept us safe in spite of ourselves, easily coping with the unavoidable occasional storms and gales. She's taken us to good anchorages in far away places where we've explored, snorkelled and enjoyed sundowners and barbeques on her unique aft deck, making friends that will last a lifetime.
Wind Wanderer is a proven blue water cruiser and is ready to do it all over again. Click on the menu button top left for more info and photos.
